What is Narthex?

Narthex is our intranet (or internal website) portal. It is also called a landing page, or you can think of it as a home or starting page. From here you can see a lot of different information that is relevant to all staff.  

Narthex is the name we gave our intranet, for which we used SharePoint technology to build our intranet portal. When we talk about Narthex and SharePoint they are the same, but we adopted “Narthex” as the site name for our main internal website to avoid confusion with other sites. 

Why "Narthex?"

A Narthex in church architecture is the entrance, lobby, or meeting place in a church. As Narthex.ca is the digital equivalent of these for United Church staff, it seemed like a fitting name! It’s also short, easy to remember, and easy to type on a mobile device.
