ARTICLE SUMMARY
This article outlines the steps to redirect Web Part setup and how to use it.
As an extra layer of security, Protiviti was hired to create a customized redirect webpart. This webpart will look at a list of either emails or IP's and redirect them if they are not on the WhiteList.
Protiviti was responsible for creating and then uploading the customized webpart into our tenants app catalog. I won't be discussing how to upload to this stage. Once the web part is in the app catalog you can install it on any page you want to redirect from.
Instructions:
Step 1: Create a new SharePoint list on the site you want to implement the redirect. Call the new site WhiteList leave all the defaults as is. This list only needs the title column for this to work.
Step 2: add in the emails of anyone you want whitelisted. I recommend adding your account and someone else in I.T. so you don't get locked out.
Step 3: Go to the gear icon and go into site contents. Once there save this page as a favorite. In case you get locked out you can come back to this page and from here create a new home page with no redirect.
Step 4: Go to the landing page of the site then click the NEW button and look for APP (you can also do this by going into SITE CONTENTS and choosing to ADD APP. Once you get there you will see a catalog of webparts to choose from. The redirect webpart is called "ip-address-redirect-client-side-solution." Choose to add it.
Step 5: Go back to the landing page and edit it. You can now add the ip-address-redirect-client-side-solution webpart to the page. You won't have to do anything to it, it will automatically look for the whitelist list and will automatically redirect to https://unitedchurch.sharepoint.com/sites/Intranet/SitePages/You-have-been-redirected.aspx. This is just a generic site page on Narthex (that is a place we ALL have access to).
